For those of you who aren’t aware of Wendy Rhoades, the illustrious character from Showtime’s Billions, here’s a quick rundown about her. Wendy is an in-house performance coach at a successful New York hedge fund. A psychiatrist by trade, she uses her understanding of human nature to motivate and, when needed, realign the brokers at the firm so that they can be at the top of their game.
(She’s also a Dommé to her submissive husband, but that’s a post for another day).
This character assesses the issues a person may be experiencing and helps them to conquer and overcome. So, when my dear friend referred to me as their Wendy in the chat snippet shown above, the gratitude I felt was overwhelming.
Sexuality is treated in an odd manner in our society. We use it to advertise and promote everything from cars to yogurt to household cleaners. But we don’t talk about it in an open and honest way. Sexual issues are viewed as shameful secrets that we try to ignore or wish away rather than address them head on. Unless you have a magic wand lying around, that’s not a very productive way to ensure a happy sexual existence.
